So Monday was the first day of my new blog for the local newspaper, The Traverse City Record-Eagle. The first post was primarily an introduction to me and what I would like to accomplish with the blog.
I was happy with the response I received from that first post. A few responders were interested in learning more about broadband internet options in rural Northern Michigan. This happens to be a subject I know a little about so I was motivated to rip through a new blog post on the subject.
I sent it out the new entry and it will be posted soon. The way it works is that the Record-Eagle uses WordPress as their blogging platform. I submit an entry and then email the webmistress. She reads the entry over for spelling and grammar and then uploads it to the site.
So far I am doing all this for free. The big advantage for me is getting "Google Juice" for this site and for me in general. Deep down I would love for this to lead to a career. I think I would really enjoy tech writing for a living, whether it would be a paying gig from the Record-Eagle or it results in the creation of a large collection of work I can take to another company.
I’ll add a link to the entry when it’s posted. You can check out my blog’s page here. Feel free to leave a comment here or there.
